Myrtle Beach Day 1

Wow, It's been a great but a long day. We left Cherryville at 9:40 and arrived at 3:00 (Right on Schedule). We stop for lunch at Subway, in McBee. I have never been in McBee and the options were not great. Huddle House or Subway? I saw Darlington Speedway for the first time, since the route we take to the beach from Kannapolis is not the same as Y'all take. The weather was cloudy and chilly all the way, except for about 20 minutes of sunshine right when we arrived. The ocean is still not warmed up to summer temperatures as my feet were cold walking in the surf.

We went to eat at K&W. It was good. We got to the Carolina Opry at 7:00 and the pre-show began at 7:30. It was my first time there, and it was impressive. The show started at 8:00 and it did not end until 10:30 (passed the Wonnie's bedtime). The music ranged from country, rock, jazz, showtunes, big band, etc. The comedy routines during the show were very funny, and they had four men doing the "river dance" as some of our group described it. The show even had a bloodhound. The only setback was they performed that those in my age group remember, "O Mickey".

The trip has been good so far, and keep us in your prayers for safety as we travel around Myrtle Beach and back home on Wednesday.

Scott

The Carolina Opry! It was a great show that evening!

Myrtle Beach Day 2

The day started with everyone but the Dellingers having breakfast at 8:30 in the lobby. The Dellingers were the early birds, eating before us. It was your typical continental breakfast, but I've always wondered what continent it started in. I guess Norht America, but I'm just not sure.

The day was another busy day. We left the hotel at 10:30 and went to the Colonial Mall. The weather was still cloudy and chilly. The temperatures were in the 50's so Barefoot Landing, Broadway, etc were out of the question. I know some of you will be shocked, but I ate Japenese in the food court.

We left there and went to the Tanger Outlet Stores, for all of about 30 seconds. They decided to go to the Wal-Mart/Marshall's/Ross shopping area across the street. Teresa Gardo asked why we went all the way to the Beach to shop at Wal-Mart? That was a good question. We returned to the hotel at 2:15. We had 2 hours of free time. The sun finally came out, and I spent some time reading on the beach. The water is still too cold to get into the ocean.

We left for the Dixie Stampede at 4:30. We ate peanuts and watched the opening act. He was very entertaining with his comedy and juggling abilities. He juggled all kind of things, including knives. I don't see how he was able to do some of the things he was doing. We then went to the main arena for the show and dinner. It was really good. We had soup, biscuits, chicken, corn on the cob, potato, and pork. The desert was a pastry. The food was excellent.

We were on the South side, which I was very thankful. I did not want to have to be a Yankee for a couple of hours, no offense to my Yankee friends. The show included music, dancing, and a lot of horses and tricks. It was very entertaining. They had pig races and ostrich races. It was cool to see people riding on an ostrich. Those are some amazing birds. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show, and even eating a meal without silverware.

Myrtle Beach Day 3

What a beautiful morning to be at the beach. The sun was shining, for the first time in the morning, and the walk on the beach was very relaxing. People were out walking their dogs and enjoying a great morning on the beach. Everyone was up early and we left the beach at 9:30am.

We made a few stops on the way home, for gas and snacks, lunch at Wendy's in Darlington, and to get strawberries in McBee, SC. We met the Baptists from Cherryville while we were getting our strawberries, which was funny that 2 groups from Cherryville were in McBee, SC at the same time. How often do you think that has happened?

We arrived back in Cherryville just before 4. I believe everyone had a great time and look forward to another beach trip in the future.
